CNN —The Democratic National Committee has accused the super PAC backing Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign of committing additional campaign finance violations on Monday, a further escalation of Democrats’ efforts to diminish Kennedy’s independent White House bid. The super PAC announced last week that it had gathered enough signatures to qualify Kennedy for appearance on the November ballot in Arizona and Georgia. “It’s clear that they, along with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his campaign, don’t believe that the rules apply to them.”CNN has reached out to American Values 2024, de Becker and the Kennedy campaign for comment. Democrats have paid for billboards outside multiple Kennedy campaign events in recent weeks boosting Mellon’s support for Kennedy. In addition to donating in support of Kennedy, de Becker’s company has provided security for Kennedy during his presidential run.

The Kennedy-aligned super PAC American Values 2024 announced late last year that it would be investing eight figures to assist the signature-gathering efforts of Kennedy's campaign. According to the DNC complaint, that amounts to an illegal contribution from American Values 2024 to Kennedy's campaign, "in violation of federal law." The Kennedy campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The campaign has previously denied coordinating with the super PAC on ballot access efforts. FEC filings show Mellon also donated $10 million to MAGA Inc., the main pro-Trump super PAC, last year.

A major super PAC backing RFK Jr's campaign is mostly funded by Timothy Mellon. Mellon has given millions to GOP campaigns, including Trump, and bankrolled a border wall effort in Texas. Mellon cited Kennedy's "bipartisan support" in a statement to CNBC on his contribution to the super PAC. That includes:$20 million in contributions to America First Action, a super PAC that supported former President Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign. $30 million to Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC associated with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
